The Daily Whatever, June 5: Parenting and Politics with Melissa Corrigan

A recording from Melissa Corrigan, she/her and Dana DuBois's live video

Hey friends! I am so, so grateful to

and for inviting me to join their exciting and never-dull morning live to discuss my work, parenting a trans [adult] child in this political climate, and the power of advocacy.

The thing about writing about traumatic shit is that, many times, interviews can be somber and very serious. There’s nothing wrong with that, and many of my podcast episodes lend levity to the topic.

But I also take a great deal of joy in my work, both my writing detailing my own life experiences and publishing these stories from others. And I also love to talk about the process of advocacy through storytelling. Dana and Lawrence facilitated that conversation in a light, fun way!

If you’d like to find out a little bit more about me, and catch a rare video (I don’t do video much), make sure to check out this episode of The Daily Whatever.

Telling our stories, like the story of my life and the people I’ve met and what I’ve experienced, humanizes the nature of these horrific actions by our government’s leaders. If you would like to share your story, as a member of the LGBT community, or as an immigrant or migrant or refugee, please send me a message.
