This is beautiful. When I listen to something rather than read it (on my little iPhone screen), Substack quickly supplies me with other articles/newsletters that I haven’t chosen—they just come on automatically. If I’m not real busy, I simply swipe them away…. thinking that by doing so I will encourage the algorithm/app/whatever to quit doing that—to quit supplying me with new things to listen to that I haven’t chosen. Just now my hands were busy so I listened to a couple things, including this, that automatically came on after my chosen piece was finished. Call it trite (it is trite) that this was just exactly what I needed to hear. During this crazy time I needed to hear someone say clearly “It’s OK to be disoriented, and probably afraid, but we still need to be courageous. We still need to be willing to do the right thing. We need to be willing to suffer the consequences of loving our family, of loving the truth, of doing what’s right. Otherwise, how can we live with ourselves?
